Islam is the second most popular religion in the world. There are 1.6 billion followers in the world that follows Islam. The followers of Islam are called Muslims. Also the Islam's group is called blanch.
Muslims are required to pray five times a day (prayer times are fixed by the sun and change daily),
wash themselves before praying and face in the direction of Mecca (Mekkah) while praying. They face direction of Mecca when they pray because Mecca is the birthplace of prophet Muhammad. In the center of the mosque in Mecca, there is a cube-shaped building which is called Kaaba . Muslims believe that the Kaaba is the holiest place on earth. It is generally thought to have been built by Prophet Abraham. There are a lot of Islam in the Middle East, Asia, and the north of Africa.

Worship
They're place of worship is mosque. The first mosque was built in Islam Quba mosque in Saudia Arabia. It is located in the southwestern part of Madina. And it is still there now days. Islam often calls mosque; masjid which is the word in Arabic. On Friday at noon . All the Muslims go to the mosque on Friday. Is a special day for the prayer. |
Islam Symbol
The symbol has a star and cresent. This symbol is the best know symbol that represents Islam. This symbol are often called Islamic symbols, but historians say that they were the insignia of the Ottoman Empire, not of Islam as a whole. Times Muslims pray!!
There are times Muslims pray 1. After first light and before sunrise ( Fajr ) 2. Between the sun reaching its height and mid-afternoon ( Dhuhr ) 3. Between mid-afternoon and sunset ( Asr ) 4. After the sun has finished setting ( Maghrib ) 5. In the dark of the night ( Isha ) |
Basic Beliefs
The basic beliefs of Islam is about Allah/God, prophets, books of revelation, angels, heaven and hell, destiny and free will, and the creation of earth.
They believe in one god Allah. They also have 6 rules and basic beliefs. Islam also thinks there are after life so you die you will be will be raised up again for judgment by Allah.
1. Belief in Allah as the one and only God.
2. Belief in angels.
3. Belief in the holy books.
4. Belief in the Prophets (special messengers). e.g. Adam, Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), Dawud (David), Isa (Jesus). Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final prophet.
5. Belief in the Day of Judgement... The day when the life of every human being will be assessed to decide whether they go to heaven or hell.
6. Belief in Predestination... That Allah has already decided what will happen. Muslims believe that this doesn't stop human beings making free choices
